When I say “effectively”, that means a few things. It should keep it secure, obviously. But also consider how hard you want it to restrain erections. Wearing a chastity device means your penis is denied the full sensation you usually experience, you won’t be able to touch yourself, even when visiting the bathroom and this is going to be frustrating. They’re designed to inhibit erection and orgasm and hand over control to the Key Holder in the ultimate form of orgasm control. So all in all it’s not worth looking for a cage you can keep on forever, at least in my opinion. Get one that fits without causing pain and leave it on until it starts to smell, then take it off to clean for a bit. Rinse and repeat. Literally.

When Shakespeare wrote, “discretion is the better part of valor”, he probably didn’t mean chastity cages. (Then again, who knows, maybe it was his thing.) Even for those who enjoy pain, a chastity cage shouldn’t hurt. If it does, it could cause lesions, blisters, or even permanent damage. Long story short, you don’t want to go outside and have everyone looking at your cage underneath your trousers. Sleeker plastic cages will be better for this as they are easier to wear and move around in, and often less bulky under the pants. Sometimes you’ll also see a measurement for the gap between the ring and the body, which can be useful if you have particularly large or high hanging testicles, but most of the time you won’t need to measure for this part.Hold your flaccid penis in your hand at a 90 degree angle from your body (pointing straight away from you). Place the end of the tape measure against your pubic muscle, and lay it flat along the length of your penis. While not all chastity devices list a gap size, it’s usually easy to see from pictures if a cage has a large or small gap, relative to the device's size itself. Estimates can be made from the product's total length. You have to remember these devices aren’t tested. They’re not medical devices, so there’s basically no science telling us if they’re safe or dangerous. The measurements you’ll need are length and girth, plus the circumference from underneath your balls and over your penis. Write down these measurements while both flaccid and erect.

The beginnings of an erection will feel more like a nice “erotic pain” rather than being unbearably painful.

Worst case scenario: you don’t get to cum for a bit, you learn something new and you can say with pride that you’re an adventurous soul. Generally wearing a chastity device does not hurt, but you shouldn’t always expect it to feel comfortable right away. It can take a some time to become used to it; both physically and mentally. Once you’ve become accustomed to wearing it at times it will sometimes feel as if the cage is “caressing” your penis. This can heighten arousal, and feels like you’re wearing your own personal “bondage cuddle”. Similar to the penis and scrotum diameter, place the tape measure on top of your penis, but this time at the widest part of your glans (the head of the penis). Wrap it all the way around and note where it crosses over. Not to get all preachy about the prevalence of porn and instant gratification in our society or anything, but…

There’s nothing hugely special about me. I’d describe myself as your typical modern, forward-thinking guy. I enjoy sports, staying healthy, love my family and friends, and have a satisfying career that pushes me to work hard so I can enjoy some of life's luxuries. Too loose, and it could fall off while wearing it, which is an uncomfortable thing to experience if you’re wearing your cage in public.Perhaps most importantly, you’ll be compromising on comfort. When you’re going to be wearing this device for hours, days or even weeks at a time, why not take the extra care to make sure it’s comfortable? When you try a new cage, pay attention to your body. Any discomfort or pain indicates a problem with the fit.

Best case scenario: you discover a whole new layer to your relationship and a whole new side of yourself. The key is getting the right fit. You’ll need to have accurate measurements to find the right size chastity cage for you, and even then, everybody and every cage is different, so it’s normal to go through some trial and error. It depends. If you want something to wear on and off during scenes, then a bit of discomfort could be acceptable if that’s what you and your partner want. The two most important measurements are the ring diameter, and the cage length. Diameter can also help with comfort but in the majority of cases if you choose the right length, the diameter will also be correct. There are three of these clamps included with the cage, along with the usual pins and spacers. The anti-pullout feature is optional, though, so you can leave these off if you want to start slowly or simply want more freedom.
