Description

Sian and Helen are a couple who run a removal service called "Two Gals 'n' a Van". Adrian hires them to help him move into Rat Wharf. He ignores Helen's advice against taking out store cards, inadvertently contributing to his mounting debt problems. She would later meet Colin Broadway, her second husband. He would end up fathering Elizabeth, her fourth child. They were married June 13, 1986. She would conceive twice again but chose abortions for both. She would change her mind later and did not approve of termination. Her 1997 novel Ghost Children speaks to these experiences. Malcolm is the severely under-educated dish-washer during Adrian's stint as head chef at Savage's. Malcolm is not especially bright, but Adrian appreciates his friendship. When a cat that looks uncannily like the Downing Street cat, Humphrey, appears at the restaurant it is Malcolm that takes it in and lavishes it with expensive playthings and food. Malcolm christens the cat 'Humfri' as he only understands phonetic spelling. He is a labour supporter. Bruce "Brainbox" Henderson is one of Adrian's friends who is good with computers. He starts the school magazine. In later books, he marries Adrian's ex-fiancée (and later sister-in-law) Marigold Flowers. At the time of writing the first Adrian Mole book, Townsend was living on the Eyres Monsell Estate, near the house in which playwright Joe Orton was brought up. Mole "came into my head when my eldest son said 'Why don't we go to safari parks like other families do?' That's the only real line of dialogue from my family that's in any of the Mole books. It's in because it triggered it. I remembered that kind of whiny, adolescent self-pity, that 'surely these are not my parents.'" [13] Success of Adrian Mole [ edit ]

Adrian Mole - Wikipedia

Production of sequels was interrupted by Townsend's declining health. At the time Adrian Mole – The Weapons of Mass Destruction was published in 2004, Townsend stated it would be the last Adrian Mole volume. However, in an interview on Leicester hospital station Radio Fox on 5 June 2008, Townsend said that she was in fact writing a new Mole book entitled The Prostrate Years, which was released in 2009. In October 2009 the Leicester Mercury featured an interview with Townsend where she discussed the new Mole book and her plans for future works. [2] Justine A lap-dancer at the Secrets Club in Soho who visits Mole at Savages, as a friend of Adrian's. She is known for a python act. For a short while she becomes the lover of Zippo Montefiori, who describes her thus: "She's a wanker's dream! She's a dislocated wrist! She's duvet heaven!".Mrs. Brown is Brown's wife. She is a pretty woman, but dresses in bad taste and is rather vacant-headed. Adrian feels sorry for her, as she is oblivious to her husband's affair. Ghost Children (1997), a novel treating the issues of bereavement, child abuse and women's self-esteem in relation to body image. These first two books were adapted into a television series, broadcast in 1985 and 1987, and a video game.

Adrian Mole is an adult. At least that's what it says on his passport. But living at home, clinging to his threadbare cuddly rabbit 'Pinky', working as a paper pusher for the DoE and pining for the love of his life, Pandora, has proved to him that adulthood isn't quite what he expected. In a 2013 interview, Townsend discussed her plans to wrap up the series in two further volumes, but also the fact that her continually declining health might make this plan impossible. [5] The Secret Diary of Adrian Mole, Aged 13¾-The Play (Leicester Phoenix, 1984) now known as Sue Townsend TheatreSimon is Mangold Parva's local vicar. Adrian sends him the manuscript for his new village play, Plague!. Simon promises to show the manuscript to his wife, once she has finished reading the complete works of Iris Murdoch.
